Councilman Hicks recognized by Rolla City Council


Rolla City Councilman Gary Hicks (Ward 3), who served on the City Council from April 2005 to December 2012, was recognized by Mayor Bill Jenks, III and the Rolla City Council for his service at the Dec. 17 Rolla City Council meeting.
Mayor Jenks presented Councilman Hicks with a Certificate of Appreciation plaque and thanked him for his service and dedication to the Council and Rolla community.
Councilman Hicks, who was recently elected to the position of District 2 Commissioner for Phelps County, was required to vacate his seat on the Rolla City Council. He sent Mayor Jenks notification of his resignation as Rolla City Councilman, Ward 3, effective Dec. 31, 2012.

Mayor Jenks thanked Councilman Hicks for his many years of service on the Rolla City Council.  We appreciate Gary’s many years of dedicated service on the Rolla City Council, and we look forward to working with him in his new role on the Phelps County Commission,” said Mayor Jenks.
The Rolla City Council also unanimously appointed former Rolla City Council member Sue Eudaly to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Hicks, whose term ends in April 2013. Eudaly, who recently retired from the Rolla Public School system after a 29-year teaching career, was selected as Teacher of the Year for RPS, and received numerous awards and distinctions throughout her many years as an educator. She previously served on the Rolla City Council for a total of eight years (1996-2000 and 2006-2010).
Eudaly will be officially sworn in as Ward 3 City Council member at the next Rolla City Council meeting on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013. The meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be held in the Rolla City Hall Council Chambers, located at 901 N. Elm Street.
