Lubbers recognized for outstanding service at Rolla Animal Shelter

Maryann Lubbers, a Shift Leader at Mobile on the Run, and a dedicated and long-time volunteer at the Rolla Animal Shelter where she has given her time, talent and generous contributions, was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation and $50 gift card to Colton’s’ Steak House by John Redshaw, Rolla Animal Control Supervisor.

The proceeds were donated to the RAS. Also pictured (l to r) are: Kathleen McMeen and Roy Taylor, Animal Control Officers  with the RPD.)
“Maryann has been an outstanding volunteer for over three years running at the Rolla Animal Shelter at Sharp Road,” said Redshaw, who presented Lubbers with the framed certificate and gift card while she was again volunteering her time at the shelter. “She even provides supplies for the shelter out of her own pocket, and recently initiated a very successful fund raising event for the shelter at Mobile on the Run which generated $1,000.”
Redshaw said the proceeds from the event will be used to purchase Kurand beds for the Rolla Animal Shelter. The beds are raised platforms that keep dogs off the ground during the cold and wet winter months. They are also very easy to clean and maintain, which keeps the dogs much more comfortable and healthy during their stay at the shelter.
Redshaw said Lubbers volunteers several hours a month at the shelter adopting animals, cleaning cages, and providing customer service to visitors. He said the last time he tried to give her a $100 gift card from Wal-Mart to show the Rolla Police Department’s appreciation for her efforts, she used the gift card to purchase a huge amount of supplies for the animal shelter.
The certificate she was presented with states she is being recognized and thanked for outstanding performance and excellence above and beyond while serving as a volunteer for the Rolla Animal Shelter. “We commend you and thank you for your unselfish and continuous contributions to the Rolla Animal Shelter.” The certificate was signed by Rolla Police Chief Mark Kearse and John Redshaw.
