Mayor Jenks proclaims Oct. 13 'Andrew Frayer Day'

In an effort to bring awareness and recognition of the heroic efforts of Andrew Frayer, a seven-year-old Rolla resident, who is courageously facing a battle against cancer, Mayor Bill Jenks, III is proclaiming Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 ‘Andrew Frayer Day’. Pictured with Mayor Jenks at the proclamation signing ceremony at Rolla City Hall on Oct. 8 are (l to r: Wanda Lucian, Kindergarten teacher at Mark Twain Elementary School; Dr. Gerry Mitchell, with The Mitchell Clinic Chiropractic office in St. James, Mo., and Kim Martin, Resource Teacher, Mark Twain Elementary.
Ms. Lucian and Ms. Martin, who are two of Andrew’s teachers at Mark Twain Elementary, spent a couple of days in June visiting Andrew at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. where Andrew is undergoing cancer treatment for Ewing Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer which only affects 200 people each year.
Through the generous efforts of The Mitchell Clinic, The Wish 5-K and 10-K Walk/Run will be held on Sat., Oct. 13 beginning at 9 a.m. at The Mitchell Clinic (120 S. Jefferson St., St. James) as a fund-raising event to help raise $5,000 to send Andrew, who is a Make-A-Wish recipient, to Disney World. (Scott Grahl/City of Rolla photo)

  1. Thank you all so much for doing this. Your generosity, is very much appreciated. We still have at least three more months of treatment here at St. Jude. We miss our friends, and family, but know that this is the best place Andrew can be at the moment.
