Brewer Science Expansion Advances with $1 million economic development grant for Rolla National Airport

Brewer Science's plans to build a new high-volume, high-tech manufacturing facility reached another milestone with the approval of a $1 million grant to support the project at its future site at Rolla National Airport. The new facility will produce specialty materials for fabrication of the most advanced microdevices that will be used in the next generations of smartphones, tablet computers, and other electronics. The grant was awarded by the Economic Development Administration (EDA), a bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and will be used for infrastructure improvements and developments at the airport.

"The project this grant supports is part of a comprehensive master plan for development of the Rolla National Airport as an economic and transportation hub. The plan is not only to provide the necessary infrastructure improvements needed for the new Brewer Science facility, but also to develop the airport site into a manufacturing center where other companies, including advanced manufacturing businesses, are expected to locate. This EDA investment will support the construction of upgrades to the water, sewer, and road infrastructure for an industrial park at Rolla National Airport. EDA grants are awarded through a competitive process based upon the application's merit, the applicant's eligibility, and the availability of funds.
