City of Rolla receives Outstanding Safety Performance Award

Members of the City of Rolla Wastewater Treatment Division were recently presented with the Missouri Water Environment Association’s (MWEA) Outstanding Safety Performance Award for Large Wastewater Treatment Plants in the State of Missouri for 2011.
This is an annual award the MWEA gives to the WWTP that has an exemplary safety record, and has excelled at safety awareness and training at its facility.
(Tom Ratzki, President, MWEA and Vice President, Water, Black & Veatch Corporation (pictured left), presents the award at the Rolla City Council meeting on May 7. Also pictured (l-r) are:  Phillip Rosenburg, Assistant Wastewater Superintendent; Steve Hargis, Director of Public Works; Chris Struemph, Wastewater Operator, and Alan McNece, Wastewater Superintendent.)
The work that lead to this award was based, in part, on the work performed by Barney Smith, former Wastewater Superintendent and the late Jim Tarr, also a former Wastewater Superintendent who both retired from the City of Rolla.
