The Centre celebrates Black History Month

The staff at The Centre, Rolla’s Health and Recreation complex, is celebrating Black History Month during the month of February with a display in The Centre lobby that showcases the books of numerous prominent African Americans.

The display was designed by Ashlyn Bennett, Guest Services Attendant at The Centre, (pictured left), who partnered with the Rolla Public Library to showcase several books on well known African Americans such as Jackie Robinson, Harriet Tubman, Bill Cosby, Martin Luther King, Jr., Frederick Douglas and many others. Also pictured next to the display is Amy Dickinson, Guest Services Supervisor at The Centre.
The Centre staff frequently use the large glass display cases to showcase events, happenings, art work, and educational exhibits that they share with Centre members and the Rolla community.

In addition, Rolla singer and songwriter Cecil Williams will be performing fireside at The Centre’s Castleman Lounge (1200 N. Holloway St.) on Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.  The entire community is invited to attend this unique performance, so plan to join us as we continue to celebrate Black History Month.  Even if you can only join us for a moment, we’d love to have you stop by.
