Detour for construction of round-abouts at Kingshighway and I-44 begins July 25

In an effort to expedite the construction of two new round-abouts at the Kingshighway, Interstate-44 and Martin Springs Drive interchange, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has requested that motorists use the appropriate detour route.

Detour signs will be posted at the interchange beginning Wednesday, July 20 and the detour will be in full effect on Monday, July 25 through the completion of the project.

Motorists will be directed to access the Martin Springs Drive area via Bridge School Road and St. John’s Parkway.

  1. How is this going to effect those coming from North of I-44 on Old Wire Outer Road? Will there be a detour or something else? No information on this process has been distributed that I know of. It would be nice to know for those of us that live and work in those areas.

  2. From Gary Heavin, City of Rolla Public Works Department:

The contractor is still working with Modot to determine the need for the detour. If the detour is put in place it will require the use of Kingshighway to Bridgeschool Rd. to St. John’s Parkway to Martin Spring’s Dr. We will post a map of the detour once it is finalized. If not we will issue a press release canceling the detour. Sorry for the confusion!

  3. Thanks for the response Gary and Rob, however it is still unclear about those that live and work North of I-44. How are we going to get across the highway? Will we be cut off and have to go to Doolittle or up Sally Road to Y and then to E. This would have a huge impact on business' and people that live on that side of the highway. A little more public information would clear up a lot of concern.

  4. From Gary Heavin, Rolla Public Works Dept:
The only road to be detoured is Martin Springs Dr. All other roads including Kingshighway will be open through the construction zone.

(More information will be posted as this project moves along)
